Inspiration comes in many forms...I'll have another glass please.
Happy Xmas from us to you....and from the kitty to.
Its snowing outside and piling up quick.
So with less than a week until Xmas we thought it was about time to get the tree up.....well maybe not straight up since it seems to lean a little. Not bad for 9.99 at Superstore. Usually we go and find a tree in the forest and bring it home but what about all the trees that are made just for Xmas that don't get to have a home? This is the first scotch pine Xmas tree we've had and it seems a little hard to hang ornaments on...all the needles point towards the end of the branch so the ornaments slide off easily.
When I was a kid my Gramma would buy ornaments for me every year and I managed to amass quite a collection.
Yay rum and eggnog!
I'm back....I spent 5 hours in the dental chair in Kelowna having some work done....my jaw is a little sore. Then it was off to Vancouver to hang with folks for some pre Xmas time and turkey. The roads were shitty for most of the drive back today.....but I'm glad to see the snow!
I heard on CBC that foodbanks are hurting this year. I also just found out that the Scotia Bank in Nelson is matching dollar for dollar any donation to the Nelson foodbank. This sounds like a good place to make a donation.
One month till Xmas.......
Where did 2008 go?
Luongo will be back and Sanford seems to be doing a good job.
Here is an ad I shot that appeared in SBC Skateboard last summer. The Owners of Unity Boardshop(Jamie and Jillian) in Osoyoos are second to none in terms of awesomeness and they have a great business going on there. I hear Jamie is building a snow-skate course for this winter so I guess there will be some road trips in order. Below is the image before post production.
Went for an nice walk this morning....this weather is not indicative of the time of year. I can see snow on the mountain tops but not very much. There was talk of going to Idaho peak to do sled laps and get some turns in but we'll have to wait for a little more snow.
Slocan Pools are a 15 minute walk from our house and it was nice to be there in the sunshine this morning...that's my girl getting some rays out on the rocks.
Getting ready to head over to a buddy's place for Hockey Night In Canada, the original six are playing...the canucks already won....sweet!
Just back from the Domincan and energized for winter. The weather was amazing and the rum was good. I'll have to work extra hard at hockey to burn off all the food I ate. When I wasn't reading, napping, eating, drinking or staring out at the ocean....wait a minute...thats all I was doing.
Back to the grind......
So if you go to Winlaw and look at the poster board at the Cedar Creek Cafe you'll find signs like this....and also this.....
I think its hilarious.
A group of us went to see Meatdraw play...we also saw them play the night before at the Royal. I've got a bunch of shots to upload but I'm just busy with other stuff right now so you'll have to be patient.
Here is a sample...
Summer was great and I'm OK that it is over because I love Fall. There has been snow on the peaks and my ski pass is patiently waiting on my dresser.
Radiohead was ridiculously good. If I were rich I would probably see more of their shows in other countries......oh well.
I met Thom Yorke in Vancouver during their last tour...he was quite pleasant....I was just on my way for a pint at the Irish Heather and I regret not asking him if he would like one as well....who knows what might have happened.
Yeah, so the summer is on it's way out the door and I'm feeling a little panicked about how to fit it all the summer stuff in before its too late. Not that I don't love winter but summer just seemed to go by so fast. Not enough cocktails on the deck, not enough boating or floating down the river or beach time. I know my parents warned me about this....
Racing is fun! This is what we do in the evenings at the race track. We even made campfire nachos.
It was nice to get out of town and see a show. The Tokyo Police Club played a great show and Attack in Black and Smoosh opened for them. Good Times!
OK so I'm still posting snowboard photos...this one is sweet though...its grainy cuz it's a scan from slide! So is anyone else going to see Tokyo Police Club in Kelowna on Wednesday? There are a few extra tickets if you want to go....let me know.
Just got back from LA on Monday and I'm glad to be home but we had a wonderful time in the big city. If you don't have a '64 Impala to cruise around LA in....its really not worth the trouble...Oh, and Denise Richards is doing alright...just so you know.
The sun is coming out more and more but when I look at a photo like this and remember standing there back in November I can't help but want to go away and do a little traveling.
Its Saturday in Spring...it may be the last hockey game of the season. I have more than completely enjoyed playing my 1st season of hockey ever. It has been a great (sometimes painful) experience learning how to skate and then start playing hockey. There's not a lot of opportunities, as a beginner adult, to play hockey. I was fortunate to get into a co-ed league where there was room for a beginner like myself. I'm going to miss it....it made me feel more Canadian.
Time to go outside and play..although that's where I play all the time anyway...whatever. By play I guess I mean 'work' in the yard. Now that the snow is gone....all the jobs that were hiding are very prominent now. I think building a fence is high on the list so that we don't have the whole neighborhood checking us out when we're trying to drink gin+tonics on the deck. A fence will provide some privacy.
Just putting a photo up. The snow is melting fast around here but the riding is still good up at the hill. I'll be able to drive the '63 wagon out of storage soon and get it ready for the race season.
Happy St. Patrick's Day....I think things are going to get ugly after hockey tonite....there was talk of a keg in the dressing room...can't see that going wrong.....

Drink wine....its good for you.
So Ridge makes a good product. I've had this bottle kicking around for several years and it was a pleasure to drink. Since I love wine it makes good economical sense to have bottles in the $10 or less range kicking around for liesurely drinking. A few that have been good buys are of the South American variety.
Finca Flichman Syrah has been around for years and it has maintained a great consistency for under $10 per bottle. You really need a case of this.
Finca Los Primos Malbec is another great buy that will please most discerning palettes. Also coming in under $10 a bottle in the expensive BC liquor stores. A case of this is also a must.
If you can....buy your wine in Alberta.
This is Powse...he's our little friend. He had a brother named Klause but he left one day and never came back.Powse likes to lick himself and sleep all the time. He says 'meow' when he has something to say and purrrs like a well tuned tractor when things are going his way.
The consistent cold temps have all but disappeared for the time being. After shoveling off the roof....I don't want to shovel for the rest of the winter....but I will if it means more snow for sliding around on.
Check this out....it's me racing in Mission in my '63 wagon.
Robbie Burns Day came and went without much of a showing. There was ideas of a gathering that would have included much whiskey, some beef stew, cigars and some card foolery. Instead there was some beer and whiskey at a friend's house. This tasty libation provided some of the entertainment...all the way from a quiet Scottish Glen.
