It's been pointed out to me on more than one occasion that I haven't posted in awhile. The intention has been there but not the motivation. In less than 2 months I'll be back on highspeed and the world will be right again....at least where connectivity is concerned.

So my girl and I bought a house....dam that sounds grown up. We move in on Sept 1st and we are both very excited. Time to clean house and get rid of all the crap that's lingering.

This photo is one from a show I have coming up in August. The show is based around the simple beauty found in nature. Just the things we see but sometimes overlook.

My last big road trip was down the the Sasquatch Music Festival at the Gorge. There was 5 of us and we sure had a good time. Here are some photos of that. There are no photos of the show itself because I dropped my camera in my beer the nite before the show...it didn't work very well after that......

Still Snowing

The end of Feb and the snow continues to fall. It has been a geat winter so far. I must be quick because I'm going to the ski hill this morning. I went for a walk yesterday and found myself down by the river where I took this photo. I'll make sure I have my tripod next time. Back to the lodge tomorrow for week #5. All those people who told me that time goes by faster as you get older weren't kidding.
I'm looking to make the switch over to mac....I'm one of the only photographers I know who doesn't use mac and this laptop I'm using at the moment is just so darn slow. The 17" powerbook looks soooooo nice.
I'm going snowboarding now.

I Heart Wine

Mason-Aguire, originally uploaded by Lovewine.

Seeing as how I whore (contract) myself out to a cat skiing lodge for the winter...I tend to take a lot of winter type photos. I'm almost half way through my season and things have been going well. Since we have more snow than most this winter...all the media/film crews have been showing up in town. Here's a shot of Burton Rider Mason hucking his meat. I was fortunate to be able to meet and hang out with a photographer that I've admired for awhile....Kevin Zacher was at the lodge shooting the Burton crew and he really has a good perspective...his shit is rad.
I also met another photographer who is doing good things. John Laptad is an all round friendly guy and talented photog. He gave me some good inspiration.

I have been lax about posting tasting notes about the wine I've been drinking. Here are some recent libations. You may notice that I try not to use hoyty toyty wine speak.....I think you should try lots of wines and decide whether they are wines you'll drink or not drink again. It's that simple.

Jean Bousquet Malbec '05-Argentina - This is an organic wine that isn't lying when it says "balanced". It may be on the young side but that does not mean that you cannot enjoy right now. I'm not sure if there is any problems with cellaring organic wine but this would do well with a few more years.

Nine Stones Hilltops Shiraz '04- Australia - The Aussies are always innovating...this higher elevation gem is just plain good. So many Aussie Shiraz's....so little time.

Valdivieso Reserve Merlot '03 - Chile - I don't drink a lot of Merlot but that's not to say that I don't like it. I like the Valdivieso products and this is no exception. It's heady and full and fairly cheap....how could that be bad?

Check the sidebar links for more wine reviews.

Fire in the Sky

Fire-in-the-Sky, originally uploaded by Lovewine.

A month can go by so quickly. I've had 2 weeks at the lodge already and the season is going very well. Everybody seems to be having a great time and the snow has been sweet. I'm recovering from having my 2 lower wisdom teeth pulled on Friday. So far so good. OMG I'm boring the hell out of myself right now.

Hockey Day In Canada...Nelson Style

Don-Cherry, originally uploaded by Lovewine.

In the ten years I've lived in Nelson I have never seen the town like it was over the HDIC weekend. TV crews, tons of people, celebrities and a palpable feeling of pride. I snapped this shot of Don at our new arena during the broadcast. Everybody wants a piece of this guy. It looked as though the day was a huge success. To bad I'm losing in my hockey pool.
