The Weekend is back and there is a golf tournament I'm playing in this afternoon....ball golf that is. There is a chill in the air this morning and you can see your breath glowing in the early sunshine. Doing firewood is always a sign of the coming season...unless you happen to be crazy and do firewood in the summer heat. I've been bucking and splitting some wood on the property.
The photo here was taken last week in New Denver at the Hills Garlic Festival...The festival became too big for the little Hamlet of Hills so it moved to a more suitable venue. There is more garlic than you can imagine...the smell of frying garlic permeates the air. It gets busier every year. 5000 people were said to have attended this time. That's half the population of Nelson. I tried Garlic gelato and it was yummy...little chunks of carmelized garlic.
The trip was made more enjoyable by heading out the day before and camping at Wragge Beach, pictured below.
This time of year the fishing picks up and I hope to get more fishing done...its not really about how many fish you catch but more about not running out of beer while you're out on the lake. I was fishing last week and managed to catch and release a couple of trout as well as a decent buzz. There was a lot of smoke in the air as you can see in the photo.

Labor Day
The realization that summer is ending always throws me for a loop. The other day I noticed the days of August were dwindling and there are still so many things I didn't do this summer. There is a list at the end of every summer....I'm not saying I didn't do anything...I did what I could.
Here is a photo of the famed group 'Hank Pine & Lily Fawn' who played a packed dining room at a friends place recently....Aug 11th. A cancelled show elsewhere created an intimate venue for the rest of us. Meatdraw and David P. Smith were also on hand; touring with Hank & Lily. Living in the Nelson area can be hard if you like to see bands. Since we are in between larger cities we tend to get passed over. Having all these talented musicians play at a friends place was a summer highlight.
If you don't think I'm a geek yet...you will after reading this. On Saturday Sept 2nd I played in the Ymir Whirl Disc Golf tournament. Similar in play to ball golf, disc golf requires one to throw various discs at targets around a course with a minimum amount of throws.
Drinking beer is required and the whole event sure is fun.
I've fixed the links for the video clips below. Have a great Labor Day!
